Adria-Neptun Educational Project – The Dream of Most Employers as well as Employees  ...

At the beginning of 2010 the Adria-Neptun spol. s r.o. company acquired a grant from the European Social Fund for training its own employees. The project commenced on Mar. 1, 2010, will last 30 months and during this period more than 60 employees, who work in the Adria Prague Hotel on Wenceslas Square and the renowned U Pinkasù restaurant, will have been trained. Within this project, more than 70 various training sessions will take place resulting in the integral concept of the long-term training of new as well as existing employees in the company.

“After completing the programme the employees will be able to provide services in the gastronomic and hotel industries at a top class level, moreover they will become familiar with the trends in their lines of business and also improve their language skills,” says the Chief Executive Officer of the company Karel Doubek. “There are two and a half years ahead of us, when we will be acquiring new knowledge and skills. Our employees were very pleased that our company enabled their professional and personal development. Moreover, the timing seems ideal to us – spring at U Pinkasù and the Adria Hotel will bring pleasure from this new beginning and the opportunity of doing our work, in a different and even better way. And that is no mean thing, a satisfied employee is a good employee,” adds Karel Doubek.

And what are the reactions of the target group – the employees? As shown by the questionnaire survey they are roughly the same. Curiosity and the desire to achieve higher qualification by the employees themselves point toward the successful operation of the project and meaningful use of finances. “We were pleasantly surprised by how eagerly and resolutely our employees want to get involved in the project. Questionnaires, which were filled in by the employees at our request, encouraged our colleagues to think about their needs,” remarks Irena Øehoøová, the project manager, and adds: “The frequently repeated desire to improve knowledge of foreign languages, understand cultural differences, new trends in one’s own line of business, managerial and presentation skills – this is only a small fraction of that which the employees planned for themselves within the questionnaire survey. Now I am facing the admittedly not easy, but still joyous task to turn their wishes into reality. I keep my fingers crossed for all of us.”
